One of Hong Kong’s most loved and iconic street snack, and my personal favorite, is the Egg Waffle. I never leave Hong Kong without eating this twice or thrice. These fluffy yet crispy on the outside mini round golden cakes are a must try if you are in Hong Kong. You can find egg waffles all over Hong Kong but this one particular shop is by far the best I’ve tried. Funny how I find out about this shop, it was during my previous visit in Hong Kong in 2015 with my mom and my best friend Antong, that we asked one local where we can find the nearest egg waffle shop while walking around Tsim Sha Tsui and to our surprise, that person is coincidentally on her way to buy some egg waffle herself. Imagine that! What are the odds of asking a perfect stranger who will show us where we can get the best egg waffle in the area.
It’s just a tiny shop called Mammy Pancake along Carnarvon Road who offers my favorite original flavor egg waffles as well as new innovative flavors like Green tea, Cheese and Chocolate Chip. It is listed as 2016 Michelin Guide Recommended Street Food, now you can now take my word for it when I say it is one of the best if not the best.
You know you’re in the right street when you can definitely smell the waffles from a meters away. And do expect a long queue with a waiting time of 10 to 15 minutes as the shop gets crowded but good thing they have a numbering system. Just wait for your number to be called out and then you can enjoy your egg waffle.
Look at these people waiting for their egg waffle.
There are many dessert shops in Manila that offers this snack but the taste just doesn’t come close to the original Hong Kong egg waffle. Now if only I can get my hands another egg waffle. Hope you like today’s post guys. I just love sharing what I love. Thanks for dropping by. Who loves egg waffle here? Do leave a comment down below if you know anywhere else in Hong Kong that has the best egg waffle.
Mammy Pancake is located at G/F Carnarvon Mansion, 8-12E Carnarvon Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
