Understanding The Changing Appearance of Leather

I just love the smell of real leather. I constantly love sniffing brand new leather bags every time I buy one. Are you like that too? I consider buying good leather bags as investments coz it is something you can use for a long period of time and can even pass on to your loved ones.

There are practically a lot of types of leather, you can know more about the types of leatherΒ here. But as we all know any leather changes over time, it marks, it stain, and it softens. Like in the case of my Louis Vuitton bag below where the patina color darkens as it ages or as we use it which I love. I remembered when it was still brand new, it was really light colored that I the I use the bag almost everyday coz I wanted the patina to darken already. And now it has.

As for my Chanel bag above where the leather is in lambskin, it is very prone to scratches and the quilted part flattens over time or maybe depending on how you use and care for it. There are actually a lot ways to care for your leather goods. You can read more about that here.

And to further understand on why leather cracks, why leather turns white, why leather turns green, and more, you can check out this post from MAHI Leather here. And did you know that leather soaks up odours as well? That’s why I don’t like to go near people who smokes otherwise my bag will smell like a burnt cigarette and that’s a big no no for me.

Well, I hope you learn a thing or two with this blog post. Thanks for reading guys!

Much Love,
