Have you guys tried Poke Bowl? According to Wikipedia, Poke is the Hawaiian term for “to section” or “to cut or slice” is a fish salad serve as appetizer or as main course.
The first time I had a Poke Bowl was early this year at Poke Poke in Estancia Mall, Ortigas and I was love at first bite. I love salad and sushi and this was like a marriage of both. Every time I visit Manila, I always eat at Poke Poke atleast once coz my trip to Manila is never complete without eating a Poke Bowl. I saw how easy it was being prepared and thought maybe I can make it on my own at home so I carefully studied the ingredients.
When I came home to Butuan I always have the cravings for it so I decided to make my own out of the ingredients I can find in my hometown, Butuan. So below is the recipe I made and share with you guys. It so easy to make.
Here’s what you will need:
150 grams Fresh Tuna (or you can also use salmon) (Slice into cubes)
2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
1 small onion sliced thinly
3/4 cup green bell pepper (sliced in cube)
3/4 cup cucumber (sliced in cube)
1/2 avocado (sliced in cube)
3 tablespoon Skinny liquid seasoning (You can buy it here)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Cayenne powder (as desired)
1/2 tablespoon Wasabi paste
3/4 cup Japanese dressing
Freshly ground pepper
Salt to taste (optional)
1 cup Quinoa or brown rice (cooked)
How To Prepare:
1. In a mixing bowl, mix tuna, garlic onions, wasabi, cayenne and skinny seasoning with a spoon. I love to use this Skinny Liquid Seasoning from 7 Grains Pantry because it has liquid protein aminos which is ahealthier alternative for soy sauce with lower sodium. It’s also gluten free, msg free, and there’s no artificial coloring and additives. It’s a healthier all-around seasoning option for all.
2. Toss in all the vegetables and add the Japanese dressing.
3. You can add salt and pepper here to taste but I like mine without salt so it’s totally up to your taste. Then mix together.
4. Put the mixture on top of your rice and it’s ready to eat. Enjoy. This recipe makes two serving.
I am really not an expert cook or anything but I just love to share with you guys what I love and surprisingly my hubby and my parents love this recipe. So I hope you like it as well! Enjoy!
Thanks for dropping by today guys, happy Sunday!
